Academic
Recovery
If your student has an “I” or
“D” showing on their progress report, “Recovery”
is probably necessary. An “I” is an incomplete
grade, although it does not mean that the student did not
attempt the assignment, only that the grade was not a passing
grade. A “D” grade indicates that the student
needs improvement understanding the material. Please read
on to find out how we can help.
Newhall Middle School offers a number of options for students
to obtain additional academic support outside of the regular
school day. A late bus will be provided for students each
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday at 4:30 PM. for
those students who choose to take advantage of after school
and credit recovery programs
Teacher Help Time 3:00-3:30
At the conclusion of each school day teachers are available
for students in need of additional academic support. Students
simply arrange to meet with their teacher after school.
During this time they may also make up any assessments they
may have failed. Students will have two weeks at the end
of each quarter to recapture any credit they have failed
to obtain.
Recovery Room 3:30-4:30
If a student fails to obtain credit in a class due to grades,
she/he may make arrangements with the instructor to become
involved in “After School Recovery”. The Recovery
Program will meet each Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from
3:30 PM to 4:30 PM. A teacher from each of the core academic
areas, Math, Science, Language Arts, Social Studies &
Activities will be available to provide the specific help
needed to recover academic credit. An instructor will determine
the assignments and assessments that a student must perform
to recover credit. Students are encouraged to attend the
after school recovery program at the first sign of academic
difficulty.
Please contact your student’s teacher if you have
questions about the class or call the office if you have
questions about the programs offered.
